A Shout Out for the Little Family!

Last night Curtis and I broke out of our conservative shells and dressed up to support a friend's adoption fundraiser.  They hosted an 80's themed party - many showed up in support and we all had a blast!

Dressed and ready to party!

Our friends, the Little's, are just weeks from traveling to their new son.  They are still short $3,800 and are doing all they can to raise the rest of their adoption expenses before they travel.  They are currently holding a "giveaway".  When you donate to their Reece's Rainbow Grand Fund you will be entered into a drawing to win some REALLY COOL prizes; one of which is a week in a RCI timeshare!  Please check out her blog and enter!

Time to kick it into high gear!

***UPDATE - WE MADE IT!!!!!  Thank you to everyone who gave and advocated on our behalf!.***

Today was a great day, so many things were accomplished.  One of which was sending off HALF OF OUR DOSSIER DOCUMENTS!  A sweet family that is traveling to the country we are adopting from offered to hand carry our documents and deliver them for us.  This is so exciting!  It really is happening and fast!

Because this is happening so fast, we need to kick our fundraising efforts into HIGH GEAR!   We have been offered a matching grant opportunityWe need to raise $500.00 in 72 hours.  If we can do that, an additional $500.00 will be donated.  Please share and spread the word quickly!

So this is how it works.....Share our adoption journey with as many people as you can.  Post on your blog, share on Facebook, SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!  People can donate through our Reece's Rainbow grant fund.  All donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  You can click on our link on the right side of our blog or use the link at the bottom of this post.

We have until 8 p.m. (PST) on Friday (8/24) to raise $500.00.  Can you help us meet our goal?

Thank you in advance for all of your help in getting us to Porter!

Our Reece's Rainbow account needs to be at $1906.00 by Friday at 8:00 p.m. (PST)

First Fundraiser UPDATE!!

Sorry this update has taken so long to post.  We came home Saturday evening, tired but excited.  I wanted to get my pictures posted and let everyone know how we did.  Well, I tried to get on the computer only to find that it wasn't cooperating.  After A LOT troubleshooting, it was determined that I would need to reboot my computer and start completely over.  Thank goodness I was able to back up all of my important files, but some things were still lost.  :(

Without further ado......

Our first fundraiser was a success!  Many of you stepped up to help and support us and without all of you, we couldn't have done this.  Baked goods were donated and delivered, you showed up and brought family and friends, you advocated for us and brought donations from others that you shared our story with.  Curtis and I were completely blown away by every one's generosity.  Porter's face was seen by many and we were able to share his story and our journey to get to him.  This is the reason the day was successful.  The money raised was just an added bonus!

Bring on the customers!

We had two booths, one for the food concession, and one to showcase La Mia Bella and Fragments.

Our very own "mobile marketing" crew.

Porter's Daddy....sorry Curtis, I had to sneak this one in. :)

Donations were made, food was sold and we brought in a total of $964.80!  Another $70 was added to our grant funds that day as well, so Saturday ended up with a grand total of $1034.80!!  After our costs are subtracted, we will be able to add $464.74 to our fund total.  We are hoping to hold a second fundraiser to help offset our initial investment and sell the rest of the food.  For now it sits in the freezer.... :)

Thanks again for all of your support.  We were able to reach beyond the hands of our friends and family and into our community!!

Arrrrrr.......

My computer crashed Saturday and I apologize for not being able to update everyone.  I am using my daughters school computer right now.  Just as soon as my computer is fixed (and I am praying that it can be) I will get pictures posted.  It was an INCREDIBLE DAY and I can't wait to share more.  Thank you for your patience!

FIRST FUNDRAISER!

Curtis and I are excited to share that our first fundraiser will be held THIS Saturday, August 11th!

Last week I shared an idea about having a yard and bake sale.  On Wednesday I was contacted by a local business, The Fussy Duck.  They are getting ready to host their annual parking lot sale and they wanted to offer us space to use to help fundraise for Porter.  I was ecstatic!!  The business owner mentioned that last year their biggest complaint was that there wasn't food offered.  BINGO!  We had a plan.  Put our yard sale on hold and hold our bake sale at The Fussy Duck.

My husband is not only gifted at planning and pulling off events that involve food, but absolutely LOVES IT! He is ServSafe Certified and is knowledgeable in what is required with food concessions.  So, within 24 hours, we had a menu planned, equipment reserved, our food permit paid for, banner ordered, and flyer's created.  I put out a request for people to help donate baked goods to sale, and the response was immediate.

We are so very grateful for this opportunity and all of you who are helping to make this happen.  We know that this Saturday is going to be incredible!  If you are close by, we would love to see you!
